An Inspiring AMCS Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
October 28, 2011

October 28 was a very special day for AMCS—it was the grand opening celebration of its new school buildings.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with guest speakers including Congressman Al Green, Houston Councilman C.O. Bradford and Houston Councilman Al Hoang. There were messages for AMCS from a former AMCS student Ashley Nelsen and the Nguyen family (Chad and Krystal and their children, Pierce, Ethan and Phoenix).  One theme arose from the event and that is the gratitude extended by all speakers to the founder of Alief Montessori who is Ms. Nancy Chieu.

Mr. Chad Nguyen’s message was very inspiring. (Click here for Mr. Nguyen’s full speech).   Congressman Green delivered a lively message which the audience truly enjoyed. He also presented Ms. Chieu with a United States flag and certificate straight from Washington DC for our ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event culminated with a ribbon cutting at the elementary foyer and a tour of the school for the guests.

Thank you to all AMCS staff for your contribution of talent, time and resources. Special thanks to Ms. Shirley for preparing the sumptuous refreshments for the occasion.
