or\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Places a student in reasonable fear of physical harm to the student\u2019s person;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive enough that the action or threat creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for a student;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Materially and substantially disrupts the educational process or the orderly operation of a classroom or school; or\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Infringes on the rights of the targeted student\u2019s at school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c2d0826 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c2d0826\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>Bullying includes cyberbullying.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cyberbullying is defined by Section 37.0832 of the Education Code as bullying that is done through the use of any electronic communication device, including through the use of a cellular or other type of telephone, a computer, a camera, electronic mail, instant messaging, text messaging, a social media application, an Internet website, or any other Internet-based communication tool.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-16dd0db elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"16dd0db\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>DISTRICT POLICY:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The District has adopted policies and procedures to address:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bullying that occurs on or is delivered to school property or to the site of a school-sponsored or school-related activity on or off school property;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bullying that occurs on a publicly or privately-owned school bus or vehicle\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">being used for transportation of students to or from school or a school sponsored or school-related activity; and\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cyberbullying that occurs off school property or outside of a school-sponsored or school-related activity if the cyberbullying interferes with a student\u2019s educational opportunities or substantially disrupts the orderly operation of a classroom, school, or school-sponsored or school-related activity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bullying is prohibited by AMCS and could include hazing, threats, taunting, teasing, confinement, assault, demands for money, destruction of property, theft of valued possessions, name-calling, rumor spreading, or ostracism.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><br \/><br \/><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3c7713d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3c7713d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>REPORTING &amp; INVESTIGATION:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a student believes that he or she has experienced bullying or has witnessed bullying of another student, it is important for the student or parent to notify a teacher, school counselor, principal, or another AMCS employee as soon as possible to obtain assistance and intervention.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The administration will investigate any allegations of bullying or other related misconduct. AMCS will also provide notice to the parent of the alleged targeted student and the parent of the student alleged to have engaged in bullying within three business days.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A student may anonymously report an alleged incident of bullying by clicking the button below, completing the contact form at the \u2018contact us\u2019 button on the main page of the school website, or email to the AMCS email: amcs@aliefmontessori.org. If the results of an investigation indicate that bullying has occurred, the administration will take appropriate disciplinary action and may notify law enforcement in certain circumstances. Disciplinary or other action may be taken even if the conduct did not rise to the level of bullying. Available counseling options will be provided to these individuals, as well as to any students who have been identified as witnesses to the bullying.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc8c555 elementor-button-success elementor-widget elementor-widget-button\" data-id=\"bc8c555\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"button.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-button-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/ekvV7jD8YLnkb4nR9\" class=\"elementor-button-link elementor-button elementor-size-lg\" role=\"button\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-button-content-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-button-text\">Report Anonymously<\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2cd9225 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2cd9225\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>SAFEGUARDS &amp; SUPPORTS:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any retaliation against a student who reports an incident of bullying is prohibited.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upon the recommendation of the administration, the Board, or its designee, may in response to an identified case of bullying decide to transfer a student found to have engaged in bullying to another classroom at the campus. In consultation with the student\u2019s parent, the student may also be transferred to another school. The parent of a student who has been determined by AMCS to be a targeted student of bullying may request that his or her child be transferred to another classroom or school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6681fca\" data-id=\"6681fca\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-05f669d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"05f669d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">AMCS POLICY ON <br>ANTI-BULLYING<br><\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5f9574c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5f9574c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>DEFINITION:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bullying is defined in Section 37.0832 of the Education Code as a single significant act or a pattern of acts by one or more students directed at another student that exploits an imbalance of power and occurs when a student or group of students engages in written or verbal expression through electronic means, or physical conduct against another student.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc2070e elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"fc2070e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9d86bae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9d86bae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND POLICIES:<\/b><\/p><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Universal prevention programs: Reduce risks and strengthen skills for all youth within a defined community or school setting.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selective preventative interventions: Target youth who are at risk for engaging in bullying or at risk of becoming a bullying target<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indicated preventative interventions: Tailored to meet the youth\u2019s needs, of greater intensity, for those who are already displaying bullying behavior or are being bullied.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vast majority of bullying prevention research has focused on universal school-based programs<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Positive relationships with teachers, parents and peers appear to be a protective factor against bullying\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Effects of these programs appear to be modest\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multi-component programs are most effective at reducing bullying<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ac0a5bc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ac0a5bc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p><b>Recommended Program &amp; Components:<\/b><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use MULTI-TIERED approaches, leveraging universal, selective and indicated programs and activities.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make your efforts school-wide to address the social environment, culture and climate. They can inspire others and maintain a climate of respect and inclusion. But a principal cannot do it alone. When parents and youth are involved in the solutions:<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21929cb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"21929cb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students feel safer and can focus on learning.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents worry less.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teachers and staff can focus on their work.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schools can develop more responsive solutions because students are more likely to see or hear about bullying than adults.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School climate improves because students are engaged in taking action to stop bullying.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents can support schools\u2019 messages about bullying at home. They are also more likely to recognize\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stopbullying.gov\/at-risk\/warning-signs\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">signs that a child has been bullied or is bullying others<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-66104d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"66104d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p>How Parents and Youth Can Contribute: Schools can set the stage for meaningful parent and youth involvement, but it doesn\u2019t happen overnight. Parents and youth are valued and must avail of every opportunity to contribute their expertise. Some meaningful roles for parents and students are as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5159ae9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5159ae9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><h2>\u00a0<\/h2><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students can contribute their views and experiences with bullying. They can take leadership roles in school to promote respect and inclusion, communicate about bullying prevention with their peers, and help develop rules and policies.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents can contribute to a positive school climate through the parent teacher association, volunteering, and school improvement events.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School staff can keep parents informed, make them feel welcome, and treat them as partners. Schools can consider identifying a school coordinator to support parent and youth engagement strategies.
